Producer

  • Led a team of 5 of developers and managed scope for 6 months of development time.

  • Developed weekly presentations highlighting the teams progress and showed them to clients.

  • Managed and organized a Jira board and spreadsheet to keep track of tasks and bugs over the project's development time.

  • Discussed potential studies the game could be used for with the clients in research environments.

  • Worked directly with the director to advertise the game at game development events. â€‹â€‹

Challenges

  • The projects direction was changed drastically when my team was being onboarded. This made it difficult to use previous teams work to guide us.

  • We constantly needed multiple developers to playtest the game as many bugs could only be found while multiple players were in a scene.

  • The engine we utilized did not allow for many assets, which forced us to be very selective with our art assets.

  • Our programming team had to adapt to a new style of networking code, which took away development time.

  • An artist on the team dropped half way through the project. This made us reevaluate our projects scope.

Reflections

  • Learned how to be resourceful as our engine allowed a very limited amount of assets.

  • Ensured the team and the clients stayed on the same page by providing a detailed report on all the progress the team worked on each week.

  • Discovered that VR has many different limitations than standard games.

  • Was informed about that different accessibility features VR provides for users in game.
